Get to Know Sammy

In honor of #GettoKnowYourCustomersDay, we have a story to share about one of our loyal customers. Here's a bit about our friend Sammy!

Customer profile: Sammy Feehrer

There is something magical about memories made on the water—and if anyone knows that, it’s our good friend and customer Sammy Feehrer.

A Cleveland, TN local who spends his summers on Lake Ocoee, Sammy has been boating his entire life. As a young boy, he recalls, “My first boat was a small aluminum rowboat with a paddle.” At one point, his parents promised to get a motor for him and his brother. He says, chuckling, “They gave us an eggbeater for a motor as a joke.” (Eventually, the boys did get a real motor!)

It wasn’t long before Sammy, at about age 13, started working at our first location on Parksville Lake, at Lake Ocoee Inn & Marina in the 1970s. Before becoming a successful custom home developer, Sammy worked several jobs there through the years, from washing boats to pumping gas.

Flash forward to 2017, and he’s upgraded from the rowboat to a pontoon and a Mastercraft ski boat from CBC. “Through the years, we’ve had all kinds of boats,” he says, reflecting on the 40-plus year relationship he’s had with CBC. Some familiar faces have come and gone, Sammy says, but even still, “It’s just a good family operation and a family atmosphere.”

After many years of boating, Sammy still enjoys the lifestyle just as much as he did when he was a kid. “I’m 56 years old and I’m still waterskiing,” he says proudly. “I’ve done that all my life.” Sammy also likes swimming and paddleboarding, and has a jet ski that his kids use when they’re in town. After having fun with water sports and cruising, he and his wife, Anne, often enjoy a slower pontoon ride at sunset.

Sammy couldn’t think of a favorite memory of boating because, well, there are just too many. But he sure is glad he has them. “Just really fun times growing up with friends, all the crazy things you do when you’re younger just being out on the water,” he says. We couldn’t agree more!
